The Story Behind ECE Community
The Story Behind ECE Community
The ECE Community began quietly in a small town on the Fraser Coast in Queensland, Australia.
At the time, I was working as an educator and like many others in the early childhood profession, I often felt the need for a place where educators could connect beyond the walls of their own centres. Early childhood education can be incredibly rewarding work, but it can also feel isolating. Many educators are working in small teams, often without easy access to a broader professional network.
ECE Community began simply as a space to bring people together.
What started as a small online gathering of educators sharing ideas and supporting one another has grown into something much larger than I could have imagined. Today the ECE Community connects more than 200,000 early childhood professionals across Australia and around the world.
Educators, leaders, students, researchers and organisations come together here to share knowledge, discuss practice, explore new ideas and support one another through the challenges and opportunities within the sector.
The heart of the community has always remained the same: connection.
Early childhood education is one of the most important professions in our society. The work educators do each day shapes the experiences, learning and wellbeing of young children during the most formative years of their lives.
Yet for many years, educators have not always had spaces where their voices could be heard or where their professional knowledge could be shared widely.
ECE Community has helped create that space.
From its beginnings in regional Queensland, the community has grown into one of the largest professional networks for early childhood education in the world. But its purpose has never been about size. It has always been about strengthening the profession by supporting the people within it.
Every post shared, every conversation started and every educator who connects with another contributes to something larger than any one individual. It becomes a collective voice for the profession.
Looking ahead, the future of ECE Community will continue to focus on connection, collaboration and supporting the growth of the early childhood sector.
Because at its heart, this community has always been built by educators, for educators.
And it continues to grow because of the passion, knowledge and generosity of the people who are part of it.
